Sea-going sections of the string transport system routes

The string transport system (STS) will become a universal transport, because its routes will run not only on land but also at sea. At the sea depth of up to 50 m, for example, on its shelf, tracks arranged on supports that are installed on the bottom, will pass over the water surface at the height of 25-50 m and more (depending on the requirements to underbridge clearances). At a greater sea depth the string track structure will be arranged in tunnels (tubes) with a diameter of 2.5-3 m laid either on the seabed (at a depth of up to 500 m) or in the water column at a depth of 50 m.

In the latter case, the tunnels are designed with zero buoyancy (or more precisely - with a slight positive buoyancy) and are anchored in every 1-2 km to the sea bottom. Due to the small weight of transport modules (up to 5,000 kg) and their rare distribution along the route (in average at a 1,000 m interval), the immersion of the tunnel will not occur as a result of their motion on any part of the route. Due to the high flexural stiffness and a special structure, the tunnels will provide a high evenness and rigidity of a string track structure at all speeds regardless of the depth of the sea (ocean).
