Acceptance running tests with SkyWay unicar

Acceptance testing of a new production prototype of SkyWay rolling stock - unicar U4-430-T3 - started at EcoTechnoPark.
 

The technical features of the novelty are as follows:

• external dimensions, m: 10 × 2.4 × 1.65;
   
• weight, ton: 4.75 (unladen), 6.1 (fully loaded);
   
• passenger capacity, seats: 18 (3 × 6);
   
• speed, km/h: 150 (top design speed), 100 (under EcoTechnoPark conditions);
   
• energy consumption, kWh (liter/100 km) at 100 km/h speed: 11.0 (2.8) that in the translation for 1 passenger will be 0.61 kWh or 0.16 liters per 100 km of track;
   
• travel distance in autonomous mode at 100 km/h speed, km: 300 km.

It is well known that the main expenses for transportation are energy and fuel costs, and hence the cost of travel in the unicar can be much lower than in other types of public transport.

Among other innovative solutions, there are 4 axes (i.e. 8 wheels) for 3 sections, unlike the traditional layouts, which usually provide for 6 and 12, respectively. This ensures less material intensity and more comfort for the unicar due to the reduction of unsprung mass of the vehicle.
