“New school” of urban construction in Nizhny Novgorod

Last week, we already reported on the cooperation of Yunitskiy String Technologies Co. with Russian universities, where students choose to write scientific papers on the subject of string transport and its integration into the urban environment. SkyWay transport and infrastructure systems are even included in the list of graduate control papers in Nizhny Novgorod State University of architecture and construction. This was told by associate Professor of the Architecture Department at that University Vladimir Ershov:

“New school” of urban construction in Nizhny Novgorod

“The modern approach to the development of city transport infrastructure with the continuing rate of urbanization inevitably leads us to the abyss. As result of constantly increasing number of cars, the city will simply get stuck in traffic. We already observe it in many megacities; traffic jams have become a part of life with all the ensuing consequences: stress, chronic fatigue, cardiovascular diseases, etc. It can not be said that Anatoly Yunitskiy was the first who thought about solving the transport problem, but his ideas about bringing transport to the second level and rebuilding cities found a response in me. Yunitskiy offers a solution that can not only reduce the negative impact from civilization, but also create conditions for a harmonious neighborhood of man and nature.

I heard about SkyWay for the first time in 2016, this idea seemed to me interesting and at the same time unusual, but feasible, therefore I made a decision for myself and became a participant of the project instead of a mere observer. I was pleasantly surprised by how many talented and extraordinary people this project brought together. At that time, I began to explain to my students SkyWay technological solutions, the main infrastructure facilities, the architecture of linear cities — SkyCity.

The idea of linear city quickly won the minds of the University’s professors and students, and since 2018 string transport is included in the list of graduate control papers for students. Of course, this is another reason for pride. We can say we are laying a new school for understanding transport problems, urban life and functioning, like Anatoly Yunitskiy. My colleagues also share the interest in the project. Marina Ryskulova, associate Professor, Architecture Department, candidate of pedagogical sciences and Alexander Kolesov, Professor, Head of Building Structures Department, candidate of technical sciences are among them.

To date, Nizhny Novgorod State University of architecture and construction has a Cooperation Agreement with Yunitskiy String Technologies Co. I hope that it will become a strong foundation for a long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation. And it’s not just that. Sooner or later, SkyWay transport technologies and systems will come to Nizhny Novgorod. It is necessary to introduce by that time string transport to as many people as possible and to prepare many young professionals of the construction profile who understand the subject and are ready, after appropriate additional training, to quickly switch over to the construction of SW-routes and SW-infrastructure.”

This is not a single case of treating SkyWay as a new approach to the arrangement of city infrastructure in scientific circles. Previously we shared with you excerpts from the report “Spatial solutions in the historical center of the city (to the discussion on the 300th anniversary of Yekaterinburg)” by V. Litovsky, Doctor of geographical Sciences, Head of the Department on siting of labor forces and territorial planning at the Institute of Economics under the Urals branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
