"Unitsky SPC" took part in the scientific and practical conference held at the RF Ministry of Transportation

At the invitation of the First Deputy Minister of Transportation Mr. A.P.Nasonov "Unitsky Scientific & Production Company" took part in the scientific and practical conference held at the RF Ministry of Transportation to discuss some issues related to the development of high-speed off-street transportation in the cities of the Russian Federation.

Report on "The Prospects for the Development and Introduction of String Transportation Systems" was made by Professor, Ph.D. Igor S. Stepanov, Chief Designer of the "Rolling Stock" Division.

An exhibition was organised in the building of the RF Ministry of Transportation to demonstrate an operational UST model, passenger modules and track structure elements. The report and exhibition aroused great interest among the ministerial experts and participants of the Conference.

Based on the conference outcomes a Working Group was set up by the RF Ministry of Transportation to formulate a concept for the development of high-speed off-street transportation in the Russian Federation. The Head of Division for External Economic Relations and International Projects of "Unitsky SPC" Mr. Alexei V. Kosilov was also included in the Group.

The Conference was attended by the heads and experts of the RF Ministry of Transportation, Moscow State University of Means of Communication, Research and Design Institute of the Master Plan of Moscow, Progress-electro Association, Design Institute for Communal and Road Construction, "Metro Transportation", Volgograd Electric Transportation, Moscow Monorail Roads, Board of Directors responsible for city electric transportation construction, Petersburg tram plant, City Administrations of St.Petersburg and Kazan, UNCHS (Habitat) Executive Bureau in Moscow, representatives of Gosstroy and mass-media.

First Deputy Minister of Transportation of the Russian Federation invited all interested experts to take part in the ministerial scientific and technical council devoted to the UST which is scheduled for September-October 2001 in the town of Ozyory on the base of the testing stand "Track Structure" being under construction in Ozyory.
