Tests on a string rail

SkyWay engineers together with experts from the Belarusian National Technical University have conducted next tests on a string rail. The objective of the experiment was to determine bonding performance of concrete with the body of the rail, adhesion and cohesion of its basic elements. The study aims at more profound exploring of the properties and possibilities to apply concrete mixes developed by our design organization. It also had the purpose of obtaining results required in the simulation of system operation in the emergency mode.

According to the Head of the Center for research and testing of construction structures under the Construction Faculty of the Belarusian National Technical University Vladimir Baranchik, who was personally supervising the tests, "The work done by SkyWay professionals in the field of creating new concrete mixes with unique features and the exploration of the possibilities for their practical use, are worthy to be presented as a PhD thesis".

You will find out all the details of the test process and the comments of the participants from our interview:

Translation of the video:

Mikhail Kirichenko: We continue planned work on the creation of SkyWay transport and infrastructure complexes. Construction of EcoTechnoPark is under way near the town of Maryina Gorka, where performance trials are already being conducted. The workshops of contractor enterprises are manufacturing track structure elements. The pilot production facility is making and perfecting the rolling stock. It is expanding by acquiring new production floor and the most advanced equipment preparing to enter a new qualitative and quantitative level. Activities do not stop either in Design Bureaus of SkyWay Technologies Co. that carry out a unique work to create and debug all the components of Yunitskiy's string transport. In the framework of the SkyWay safety program, next tests were conducted not just on the Tube Confined Concrete, but also on a segment of a real string rail. This experiment continued the study of emergency situations that are simulated while the construction of the track structure proceeds. It is a part of serious scientific work being carried out in our Company under the leadership of SkyWay General Designer Anatoly Yunitskiy. That's why the Head of the Center for research and testing of construction structures at the Construction Faculty of the Belarusian National Technical University Vladimir Baranchik, who was personally supervising the tests, noticed that the study of possibilities to use our concrete mixes as an alternative means of anchoring "amounts" to a PhD thesis. We are going to find out all details and explanation of the performed experiments from an interview with direct participants of these events, engineers of SkyWay Technologies Co.
Today our talk partners to comment on the tests of Tube Confined Concrete are engineering designer Vitaly Lapkovskiy and production engineer Alexander Shibut. Let's start with you, Alexander. What was exactly tested this time?

Alexander Shibut: While creating track structures we are working on various design versions. We also check some emergency situations. In this case, together with the Belarusian National Technical University we have conducted tests.

M.K.: Am I right to think that these tests are primarily aimed at ascertaining the safety of SkyWay track structure in case the most incredible emergency situations occur?

Vitaly Lapkovskiy: It was necessary to check that at any failure in anchor supports it would be possible to rely on the steel tube. We have tested and determined the conduct of steel ropes inside a rail. We have also determined adhesion and cohesion of the link of the tube with concrete and steel ropes. Our theoretical assumptions coincided with the experimental results. Thus, we can speak about the complete safety of this structure.
