New sample of SkyWay rolling stock — Uniwind

Uniwind is a lightweight suspended monorail vehicle used in SkyWay transport systems along urban and suburban lines with a flexible track structure.

The flexible track structure allows to create lightweight routes in the shortest possible time to arrange traffic in sparsely populated or remote areas, as well as on terrains with challenging relief. This type of track structure is characterized by the simplest and most functional design, which makes it one of the most affordable solutions to service transport communications.

"Despite the fact that the track is super-light and has a small load capacity, it can solve serious problems. Such a route can be laid to any village, settlement or cottage, to cross all the rivers, because the spans can be up to 2-3 km long" - says SkyWay General designer Anatoly Yunitskiy.

Due to the modular design, uniwind can be used both for passenger transportation and cargo haulage. The use of plug-in modules and the possibility for optional design of units and components ensure reaching uniwind's multi-purpose use - from highly specialized application on regional passenger and cargo lines to servicing individual transportations.

An outstanding operational reliability of the vehicle is ensured by a complete duplication of traffic control systems including traction drive systems and power supply systems.

Uniwind's high technical features are achieved due to the use of a regulated independent suspension, increased capacity of the energy storage device, minimal energy expenses, low requirements to infrastructure of the operation area, as well as the simplicity and low cost of the track structure design.

  • Load-carrying capacity: 150 kg
  • System performance: 7,200 passenger/hour in both directions
  • Power consumption (at 150 km/h speed): 8.5 kWh or 2.1 liters per 100 km in fuel equivalent
