Dubai announced the creation of a 15-kilometer SkyWay urban transport system

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved a package of future projects to be developed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The projects include the SkyWay urban transport system, with a total length of 15 km and 21 stations along the route.

"We approved a package of developmental projects to continue building Dubai as the world's best city. The SkyWay project, a 15-Kilometer urban transit system, will transport passengers along Dubai's skyscrapers through 21 stations", His Highness said on Twitter.

The Dubai Media Office published a visualization of the project, giving the following explanation: "Skypods, a suspended transit system that links vital spots such as the @DIFC and @MyDowntownDubai. The project, which has 21 stations and the capacity to transit 8,400 riders per hour per direction."

The Dubai Media Office website states that the Skypods project (under this name SkyWay was presented in the UAE) "offers an urban transit experience that features modern-designed pods passing through Dubai's towers. It is characterised by uniquely designed stations and rail-supporting structures extending along the track. The project will maintain design harmony with the Dubai Metro stations."

Information has already been picked up by a number of regional news agencies.

"We are happy that the government of Dubai has chosen our technology as a tool for the development of the region. This is not only a great honor, but also a huge responsibility for the entire SkyWay team. We must justify the confidence placed on us and fully demonstrate that string transport truly meets the criteria for the transport of the future", said Anatoly Yunitskiy, General Designer of the innovative transport systems developer company.
