A day in SkyWay history: “Zero kilometer”

Exactly four years ago, we summed up the results of voting for the image of “Zero kilometer” sign. Designers of SkyWay Technologies Co. have developed more than a dozen sketches that were proposed for public discussion by investors. Feedback allowed to create a composite image of the sign, which absorbed many symbols. According to the authors’ idea, the memorial, on which the sign “Zero kilometer” is installed, symbolizes the whole history of upgrading transport and roads. To get to the sign you need to pass a section of the trail paved with rough stone, then cobblestone and asphalt.

The sign itself features a map of Europe, where Belarus occupies the central place — the place from where string transport originates. Belarus is slightly raised above the main part of engraving so that every visitor could see from which country and what continent string roads came into this world from the idea to implementation.

The sign was fit into a concrete slab weighing a thousand tons following the contours of Belarus. This plate is a protruding part of the massive foundation under the anchor support, which is also the first SkyWay passenger station. The sign not only launched the construction of the world’s first string-rail overpass, but also features a starting point in improving the environment on which our common future depends.

A few years ago, the territory of EcoTechnoPark was an ordinary wasteland, an abandoned tank range, overgrown with weeds. In just four years, we managed to breathe life into this piece of land. During EcoFest-2019, participants will have a unique opportunity to touch upon the history of string transport creation from the first stone to the latest developments of the Company’s engineers.
