An overview of trends in the field of transport technologies The continuing growth of the planet’s population is the main reason for the approaching global environmental disaster. In many parts of the world, people do not have access to clean drinking water, food, and modern cities are choking in traffic jams. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The transport sector still remains the most important man-made factor of environmental pollution. More than one hundred articles, books and scientific papers report on the fact that the planet is not able to “digest” so many cars, but the question “What should we do with it?” remains relevant to this day. Point solutions, be it construction of additional lanes or city redevelopment cannot solve such global problems. Leading experts of the transport sector came to the conclusion that the only way to avoid environmental collapse is to create an environmentally friendly, efficient transport infrastructure. For example, the American visionary Elon Musk actualized the idea of vacuum trains in 2013, and the Belarusian engineer Anatoly Yunitskiy started the practical implementation of the 4th generation of string technologies or SkyWay in 2014. As always, the reaction of men in the street was ambivalent: some were skeptical of their ideas, others saw them as the future of transport technologies. We have already reported how the development of these projects proceeded. Let’s see at what stage of maturity they are today. By the way, in order to assess SkyWay transport, you just need to come to EcoTechnoPark on August 17, 2019 to the annual festival dedicated to transport and high technologies EcoFest-2019. The event will be held on the territory of the testing and demonstration center of the company-developer of SkyWay in the town of Maryina Gorka (Minsk region, Republic of Belarus). This year, guests of the festival will be able to take a ride in several models of SkyWay rolling stock and to find out how the innovative transport technology operates.
