The International exhibition InnoTrans is one of the major events in the transport sector. This year it is promised to showcase a huge number of new products — 130 world premieres in the field of transportation technologies are expected. The exhibits will include new models of rolling stock on rails and trackless communications, innovative carriages for container transportation, passenger cars, regional trains, double-deck cars, trams, trains and equipment for metro, repair trains, tunnel cleaning rolling stock, repair and evacuation trains, hybrid locomotives, motor-coach trains and much more.

New samples of rolling stock — high-speed unibus and eighteen-seat unicar — will be delivered from SkyWay to InnoTrans-2018. SkyWay transport takes place among innovative projects at this exhibition — last time the company presented its vision of the future at the Mobility Vision Lab, alongside with such projects as Hyperloop, Moon and NEXT.

InnoTrans outlines the main trends, and judging by the numerous press releases from the participants, as well as the statements made by SkyWay management, the company will reflect all the most crucial trends in the transport sector — let us consider them in detail.

Ecology and electricity

SkyWay transport systems are designed based on the principle of maximum environmental friendliness, and the use of renewable energy sources is integrated into the entire architecture of SkyWay routes. SkyWay electric rolling stock not only helps to save the environment, but also allows to save energy due to excellent aerodynamic features, efficient motors and high efficiency factor of "steel wheel-steel rail" couple, which is an order of magnitude superior to all the existing alternatives — from a pneumatic tire to magnetic levitation.

Artificial intelligence and information technology

SkyWay transport operates under conditions of the second level, where the modules do not need to take into account the movement of other vehicles controlled by man, not by automation. Nevertheless, the automated control system is still needed — it will allow to reduce operating costs, improve control accuracy and exclude the human factor. In addition, collection and analyses of data on the operation and condition of transport in SkyWay will allow the control system to self-learn.

A separate segment at InnoTrans-2018 will be provided for exhibiting tunnels — novelties of this industry will be presented there: engineering solutions, geoinformation systems, equipment and much more. Attention to this sector may be caused by the fact that it becomes necessary to search a new dimension for new modes of transport and growing traffic with the same level of infrastructure development — underground or above the ground.

From the very beginning SkyWay has chosen a variant of overpass transport of the second level — due to innovations in infrastructure construction, SkyWay tracks are not inferior to tunnels in terms of safety and throughput, and they are even less-costly. In addition, at the current stage, work is underway to create an underground and even underwater version of SkyWay — Hyper U. Infrastructure for it will be built by a special technology including a number of innovative solutions and know-how. Additional advantages to this system will be the creation and maintenance of forevacuum in them, reducing environmental resistance.
